Two former Miami Springs Senior High Golden Hawks have made us proud as they have ascended in their political careers.  Those two Golden Hawks include Florida Senator, Manny Diaz, Jr. and Florida Representative, Bryan Avila.  This political duo helped to fight and secure key funding that will make some permanent improvements to the City of Miami Springs.

South Royal Poinciana Median Project

The City of Miami Springs is receiving $1 Million from the State of Florida to move forward with redeveloping South Royal Poinciana Boulevard between East Drive and LeJeune Road. The project will replace the 4 lane roadway with a 2 lane roadway with a median.

East Drive Stormwater & Road Improvement

The City of Miami Springs is receiving $1.5 Million from the State of Florida to move forward with improving East Drive, including stormwater and traffic calming to a key road that includes Stafford Park, Miami Springs Middle School, and AIE Charter School.

Senior Center Meals & Programs

The City of Miami Springs is also receiving $215,000 from the State of Florida to use for Senior Center Meals and Programs for the new Senior Center.

State Funds: $2.715 Million

In total, that’s $2.715 Million coming from the state coffers back to the City of Miami Springs. To recap, here’s where the funding is going:

  • $1,000,000 for South Royal Poinciana Media
  • $1,500,000 for East Drive Improvements
  • $215,000 for Senior Center Meals and Programs
  • TOTAL:  $2,715,000 for the City of Miami Springs
