Miami Springs and Hialeah are connected by two historic bridges: The Warren Pony Swing Bridge that connects Hialeah Drive to Curtiss Parkway and the Vertical Lift Bridge that connects Hook Square to Southeast 1st Avenue in Hialeah.
Miami-Dade County’s Department of Transportation and Public Works sent notifications announcing a virtual public meeting regarding the rehabilitation of our two historic bridges. The virtual public meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at 6:30pm.
According to the County, the rehabilitation project consists of repairs to the above-water portions of the bridges, painting of the structural steel, and other improvements essential for operability and safety.
To participate in the virtual public event, the public may pre-register at www.MiamiDade.gov/virtual-meetings.
The last time the Department of Transportation did a rehab project, two temporary bridges were created. We’ll have to wait and see if the upcoming rehab project will include temporary bridge closings or not.
Stay tuned.
