According to an article published in The Miami Herald by Theo Karantsalis, Miami Springs Councilwoman Mara Zapata is running for a seat on the Miami-Dade County School Board.

According to the article, she may need to step down from her current post as Councilwoman in order to comply with Florida’s “resign-to-run-law.”

Zapata was quoted in The Herald stating, “I would like to stay on the council as long as possible but will have to abide by whatever the city recommends and what legally I must comply with.”
